Monitors with high refresh rates:

Monitors with high refresh rates are often considered to be the best option for serious gaming, even over monitors with much higher resolutions. The faster the refresh rate on your monitor, the better it will be able to display all the frames your graphics card is able to generate. For example, if you're running a powerful machine with high end graphics card it'll probably produce well over 60 frames per second (FPS) on most games. If your monitor only has a 60Hz refresh rate where the image on screen only refreshes or changes 60 times a second, all the frames your computer can produce over 60 FPS are essentially 'lost'.

If you have a monitor capable of producing 144Hz, 165Hz or above then when your games are running at higher frames per second, the monitor will be able to display each of these frames. The result is smoother, more responsive gameplay where you can more accurately aim, and see the motion in your games with less blur. This is the reason that a lot of gaming laptops have greater than 60Hz displays at 1920 x 1080p full HD resolution. You can't beat a 144Hz monitor for gaming. It's the golden zone, great for responsiveness, cost effectiveness and isn't too texting on graphics cards. We'd recommend a 144Hz monitor!

We definitely recommend in investing in a great, high refresh rate monitor to experience fantastic gameplay, especially in online first person shooters!
